Wine 101 – Wednesday September 28, 7PM $40


Anyone can enjoy the sensual and psychic pleasures of wine drinking. It requires no knowledge or skills other than bringing a glass to the lips and swallowing. The overall sensory experience of wine can be transformed from a simple pleasure to a profound one with just a bit of knowledge about how we experience 'taste' and a basic understanding of the reasons wine can have so many flavours. In this introductory class you will learn about the main types of wine, how wine is made, tips on buying and cellaring wine and best of all how to begin to really taste wine. 


Sketches of Spain – Wednesday October 12, 7PM $60


I can’t play like Miles but I can introduce you to the world of Spanish wine. In this broad overview tasting we will explore the nuances of Rioja versus Ribera del Duero, the power of Priorat and the rise of Toro and Jumilla. 


The Underdogs – Wednesday October 26, 7PM $55


Certain countries are known for doing certain varietals exceptionally well. Australia has Shiraz, Argentina is known for Malbec and New Zealand is known for Sauvignon Blanc. However, these countries do other varieties and blends really well. These are the wines we refer to as the underdogs. So join us to taste these underdogs; it's sure to leave you with a whole new impression of these countries and their wines. 


French Kiss All About French Wine – Wednesday November 9, 7PM $65


France is one of the most daunting sections for everyone in our store. The labels are in French, and instead of the grape variety, the labels say things like 'Vin de Pays', 'Grand Vin', and 'Grand Cru'. What??? Let us turn pomme frites into French fries so to speak. We will taste wine from the most prominent regions of France while trying to make sense of it all. We will delve into the top grape varieties and help you decipher what you read on a label. 


Chateauneuf-du-Pape – Wednesday November 23, 7PM $75


That's right the pope has a new house and it is a big one. In the return of one of our favorite tastings we will explore six expressions from the first AOC in France and the most celebrated of the Southern Rhone. 


Bubbles Bubbles Bubbles – Wednesday December 7, 7PM $55


Champagne, Prosecco, Cava, and sparkling, oh my! Sunday brunch, New Year Celebrations, birthdays, graduations, Thursdays -- any time is good for bubbles. Join us for some bubbly fun as we discover the difference in each unique style of sparkling wine. 


Porto and Chocolate – Wednesday December 14, 7PM $65


What better way is there to spend the holiday season than by sampling outstanding Ports paired with exquisite chocolate? 


Brunello di Montalcino – Wednesday January 11, 7PM $75 


On an amazing string of vintages, Brunello is super hot right now. Brunello di Montalcino is Tuscany’s answer to Barolo. Come spend the evening with us and some amazing wines from the heart of Tuscany! 


Robbie Burns Night Friday January 27, 7PM $105


Come celebrate Scotland’s favourite son with a night of poetry, food and of course Scotch. Forgive us for leaving out the haggis but we will more then make up for it with a unique flight of scotch and some of Robbie’s most famous poetry. 


The Sweet and the Sticky for Valentine's Day – Wednesday February 15, 7PM $65


Get a couple of tickets to this sweet wine tasting for your Sweetheart. We'll try a variety of sweet wines with desserts paired to match. The rest of the romance is up to you!

Almost the Ides of March Italian Tasting – Wednesday March 14, 7PM $70


Told you are going to have a bad day? Well come and enjoy a taste of Italy before the curtain falls. We will explore a wide range of Italian wines from Alto Adige to Puglia and Brunello to Zibibbo. Caesar came, he saw, he conquered. Will you? 


Wine and Charcuterie Tag Team with Bite Groceteria – Wednesday March 28 $75


The Cellar is teaming up with Bite Groceteria to bring you a dynamic wine and food tasting where we will explore the gastronomical pleasures of wine with charcuterie. Topics will include what is charcuterie, wine pairing, and general merriment.   


Wines Rated 91 to 95 Points Wednesday April 11, 7 PM $55


Join us for the first of this two part series where we explore the upper crust of wines rated by Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate and other wine publications. We will discuss not only the wines but the advantages and pitfalls of the rating system. 


Wines Rated 96 to 100 Points   – Wednesday April 25, 7 PM $150


This is the final instalment of the rated wine series and we have left the best for last. Join us as we explore the upper crust of wines rated by Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate and other wine publications. We will discuss not only the wines but the advantages and pitfalls of the rating system. 


The Sweet and the Sticky for Mother's Day – Wednesday May 9, 7PM $65


Get a couple of tickets to this sweet wine tasting for your Mom (or yourself!). We'll try a variety of sweet wines with desserts paired to match. A no-brainer, really! 


California Dreaming of Cabernet Sauvignon – Wednesday May 23, 7PM $75


An all Cabernet tasting you say? Why yes, yes we do say. There is more to California Cabernet Sauvignon than Napa and Sonoma. Join us for an evening of Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder Russian River and Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignons and yes they are that different. 


Beer of the World – Wednesday June 6, 7PM $35


Beer is one of the oldest beverages, with the history of beer dating back to the 6th millennium BC. Beer has changed a lot since then with many different styles available. Join us while we sample from an assortment of different styles and show you how like wine beer can be paired with many of your favourite foods. 


Scotch for Dad – Friday June 15, 7PM $75


Whether you are a beginner scotch drinker or a seasoned veteran our scotch lineup has something for everyone. We will touch on the basics about scotch production as well as the different styles and regions. Our scotch enthusiast will pick a flight of scotches that will have something for everyone. The perfect Father's Day gift for that special fellow in your life.
